Jared Zook

Jared Zook...

Jared Steven Zook was born May 10, 1989, in Edmonton, AB. He was quickly nicknamed Bear by his Mom Pam, Dad Steven and older sister Tanya—a name that stuck with him his entire life. Jared grew up in Alberta, and although he lived in various small towns throughout the province, most of his life was spent in the Edmonton area. In high school, he started in residential construction and continued after graduation. In 2014, he switched to commercial construction, leading him into rigging for tower cranes and apprenticing as an operator. He was the guy trying to stuff a hard hat over his long, thick, curly blond hair. In 2017, he married his wife Michelle, and in 2019, he moved to and started working in the Kelowna area.

Jared was a homebody, and family was very important to him. His holiday time was always spent with family, and making memories with his six nieces and nephews was always a priority. Loved his LEGO and DC running shoes as he didn’t have to untie them to put them on or take them off. Always quick with a grin and a laugh, he built friendships in his community and on job sites. He was an easy-going personality, yet stubborn at times, and he was occasionally willing to express his opinion if he felt your decision-making process had some “flaws”—hard working, reliable and willing to see any project through to completion.

Message from Jared's loved ones

As Jared’s family, what do we miss the most? Our yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows meant to be spent with an amazing, loving man. The hopes and dreams that could have been but will never be. Bear hugs.

Help us continue to Rise

As a publicly funded and donation-led non-profit initiative, every effort was made to ensure that the maximum amount of dollars went directly to support the actual construction of the gardens. However, to keep the site in the same condition it was at the time of unveiling and to keep the memorial's legacy alive, constant resources need to be allocated to its ongoing maintenance.

Further, the Rise Memorial Foundation needs to retain some contingency monies to fund replacement costs in the unfortunate event of vandalism or damage. Lastly, future projects and our digital assets, like this website, come with a cost.

If you want to contribute to the Rise Memorial Foundation’s endowment, please get in touch with the Board of Directors at contact@risememorial.com.
