Brad Zawislak
Brad Zawislak...
Brad was from a small town, Benito, Manitoba. He was raised and embraced with all things farm life. From taking care of cattle and horses to working on machines and fixing gates, Brad did it all. Brad's charismatic movements created an enjoyable environment, and his laughter and smiles would fill any room he was in. He played out his childhood dreams as a hockey goalie, and by the time he was 11 years old, he spent his summers working at the Assiniboia Downs Race Track, learning the ropes of what it’s like to take care of a racehorse.
In 2012, Brad relocated to Kelowna, BC, to live the life he’s always dreamed of and set down some family roots. He had a well-established work routine as a civil engineering technologist and was enjoying the Okanagan lifestyle to the fullest.
Brad was fun, he was full of spark, and his brotherly characteristics were well received by many. He valued people and loved his family with every ounce of his heart. He had this twinkle in his eye that brought so much joy to everyone he crossed paths with. His weekends were full of pool parties, BBQ dinners, skiing, trail running and endless amounts of yard work.
Brad was described as a kind, thoughtful and loving man. He was task-oriented and a real problem solver, and those incredible traits shaped Brad into the man he was.
It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.

Help us continue to Rise
As a publicly funded and donation-led non-profit initiative, every effort was made to ensure the maximum amount of dollars went directly to support the actual construction of the gardens. However, to keep the site in the same condition it was at the time of unveiling and to keep the memorial's legacy alive, constant resources need to be allocated to its ongoing maintenance.
Further, the Rise Memorial Foundation needs to retain some contingency monies to fund replacement costs in the unfortunate event of vandalism or damage. Lastly, future projects and our digital assets, like this website, come with a cost.
If you want to contribute to the Rise Memorial Foundation’s endowment, please get in touch with the Board of Directors at contact@risememorial.com.
